History of

Oak Grove

Community

Oak Grove Community Church first
met in October, 2005 at “the little white church” in southeastern Kosciusko County, Indiana. Here, a handful of families and friends gathered together to worship their Lord and Savior with a compellingcommitment to a Christ-centered, biblically-oriented fellowship of Christian men, women and children.

Though Oak Grove was by no means born as a protest against either contemporary or traditional expressions of evangelical Christianity, those who began meeting together at that time shared a common conviction that the same life transforming vitality evidenced in the earliest gatherings of first-century believers is no less attainable for God’s children today.

The beautiful portrait of church described in Acts 2 reveals that God worked mightily through those who came together to form the body of Christ, and who were dedicated to the indispensable functions of worship, sound doctrine, fellowship, prayer and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

We haven’t “arrived” and are more sensitive than ever that the church awaits Christ’s return for her perfection. But the
vision continues to take on refreshing clarity as we grow together, struggle together, encourage each other, and celebrate Christ together
.

OAK GROVE COMMUNITY CHURCH
We Believe...

The Bible
We believe the Holy Scriptures, consisting of the 66 books in the OldTestament and New Testament, were written by men divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit, without error, and that the Bible is the finalauthority in faith, doctrine and life.

The One True God
We believe in one God, who is eternally existent in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, in His virgin birth and sinless life; that He is both true God and true man; that He died as a redeeming substitute for our sins, was dead, buried and bodily resurrected, and ascended to the right hand of the Father; and, in his personal return in power and glory. We believe that Jesus Christ will come again to earth, personally, visibly and bodily, to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

Man
We believe that man was created by God and in the image of God to be in fellowship with God. We believe man was tempted by Satan, fell under the influence of sin, became disobedient to God by choice and was helpless to restore himself, thus forsaking his divine mission in life. Man is the object of God’s love in Jesus Christ, who came so that man could resume his original divine mission in life.

Salvation
We believe in complete and eternal salvation by God’s grace alone, received as the gift of God through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that faith in Jesus Christ is the one and only means
by which man may be forgiven of his sins and enjoy eternal relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior, indwelling our hearts. He gives new life to us, empowers and imparts gifts to us for service. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption.

The Church
The true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations
where the Word of God is preached in its purity and the sacraments are administered in their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained. For her
perfecting, she awaits return of her Lord.
